Before you enrol

Please read our Student Handbook for information about our policies and procedures. Prior to commencing this course, you must have completed the following units of competency (or equivalent):

  • FNSACC321 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
  • FNSACC322 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers
  • FNSACC418 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry
  • FNSACC421 Prepare financial reports (this unit is the equivalent version of BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports)

Once you are enrolled

  • You will need to Register for a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
  • Complete a pre-course evaluation to determine your course readiness.
  • Take our Online Study Readiness Quiz to do a self-assessment.

Learner groups

You may be one of the four student groups for this course.

Beginner – If you’re new to this industry and have no previous experience in accounting leadership/management, you belong to this group. Expect up to 1,273 study hours.

Intermediate – If you have some relevant knowledge and/or skill in accounting leadership/management, such as previous experience or lower-level or older completed qualifications, you belong to this group. Expect to spend up to 878 hours.

Advanced – if you have extensive relevant knowledge and skill in accounting leadership/management but have not worked in the industry recently, you belong to this group. Expect up to 698 study hours.

Expert – if you have extensive relevant and recent knowledge and skill in accounting leadership/management and are actively working in the industry, you belong to this group. Expect up to 268 study hours.

To complete your studies, you will need to have access to:

  • A computer with:
    • Internet access through Google Chrome (at least 5+mbps)
    • Latest MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, or equivalent applications
    • Latest Adobe Acrobat Reader
    • Printer and Scanner
  • Headset and webcam for participation in study sessions
  • Basic calculator (Handheld or on a computer)
  • At least three individual volunteers for role-play tasks
  • Video recording device (camcorder, smartphone, etc.)

Once we receive your enrolment, your Ab2 Student Experience Advisor will reach out to see if he or she can answer any questions about starting the program.

Assessment methods

For this course, you will be answering Knowledge Questions and completing Practical Assessments. You will also be completing trainer-supervised exams for Module 7 – Law and Order: CLU (Commercial Law Unit). The trainer-supervised exams are required to apply as a tax agent with the Tax Practitioner Board.

Recognition of prior learning

If you have prior skills and knowledge built through previous learning, education, or employment experience, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL) and you may not have to study all course modules.
